A method of inhibiting histamine release from basophils or mast cells to treat an inflammatory disease associated with histamine release in a mammal, comprising administering to said mammal a systemic dosage of between 0.5 to 500 .mu.g/kg of body weight of said mammal, a topical dosage of between 100 ng to 10 mg/surface area/day, or an inhalation dosage of 10 ng to 1 mg per inhalation of one or more proteins selected from the group consisting of MIP-1.alpha., MIP-1.beta., CTAP-III, or IP-10.
A method of inhibiting allergic disease in a mammal, comprising administering to said mammal a systemic dosage of between 0.5 to 500 .mu.g/kg of body weight of said mammal, a topical dosage of between 100 ng to 10 mg/surface area/day, or an inhalation dosage of 10 ng to 1 mg per inhalation of one or more proteins selected from the group consisting of, MIP-1.alpha., MIP-1.beta., CTAP-III, or IP-10.
