Abstract
A divalent europium activated barium fluorohalide phosphor having the formula (I): BaFX.aNaX':xEu.sup.2+,yM.sup.I (I) in which each of X and X' is at least one halogen selected from the group consisting of Cl, Br and I; M.sup.I is at least one alkali metal selected from the group consisting of K, Rb and Cs; and a, x and y are numbers satisfying the conditions of 0<a.ltoreq.2.0, 0<x.ltoreq.0.2 and 5.times.10 .sup.-4 .ltoreq.y .ltoreq.10.sup.-2, respectively. A radiation image storage panel employing said phosphor is also disclosed.
Claims14
A divalent europium activated barium fluorohalide phosphor having the formula (I):
- BaFX.aNaX':xEu.sup.2+,yM.sup.I (I)
- in which each of X and X' is at least one halogen selected from the group consisting of Cl, Br and I;
- M.sup.I is at least one alkali metal selected from the group consisting of K, Rb and Cs;
- and a, x and y are numbers satisfying the conditions of 0<a.ltoreq.2.0, 0<x.ltoreq.0.2 and 5.times.10.sup.-4 .ltoreq.y .ltoreq.10.sup.-2, respectively.
A radiation image storage panel comprising a support and a stimulable phosphor layer provided thereon, characterized in that said stimulable phosphor layer contains a divalent europium activated barium fluorohalide phosphor having the formula (I ):
- BaFX.aNaX':xEu.sup.2+, yM.sup.I (I)
- in which each of X and X' is at least one halogen selected from the group consisting of Cl, Br and I;
- M.sup.I is at least one alkali metal selected from the group consisting of K, Rb and Cs;
- and a, x and y are numbers satisfying the conditions of 0<a.ltoreq.2.0, 0.ltoreq.x.ltoreq.0.2 and 5.times.10.sup.-4 .ltoreq.y .ltoreq.10.sup.-2, respectively.
