Abstract
An oily mist resistant electret filter media is provided. The filter media includes polypropylene electret fibers and a melt processable fluorochemical additive, the additive having a melting point of at least 25.degree. C. and a molecular weight of about 500 to 2500.

A respirator having an air filter element comprising melt blown polypropylene electret microfibers and a melt processable fluorochemical additive compound having a melting point of at least about 25.degree. C. and a molecular weight of about 500 to 2500 present in an amount of about 0.2 to 10 weight percent to achieve sustained electret filtration enhancement.
