Abstract
An improved oxygen scavenger for aqueous mediums is disclosed which is a disubstituted, water soluble azo compound.

A method of reducing the amount of oxygen in an oxygen containing aqueous medium comprising adding to said oxygen containing aqueous medium an amount, effective for the purpose, of a disubstituted, water soluble azo compound.
