Abstract
A process of providing a thermal spray powder feed coating composition composed of stabilized zirconia mixed with zircon and a selected oxide, such as yttria, to form a refractory oxide coating ideally suited for hearth rolls for annealing steel.
Claims3
An article comprising a metal substrate and a thermally sprayed coating having a refractory oxide layer which by x-ray phase analysis comprises ZrO.sub.2 substantially in the cubic and tetragonal phases, at least one oxide selected from the group consisting of CaO, Y.sub.2 O.sub.3, MgO, CeO.sub.2,HfO.sub.2 and a rare earth oxide, and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of SiO.sub.2 and ZrSiO.sub.4.
