Abstract
A connector is inserted into connecting holes arranged at abutment surfaces between structural members, adhesive agent is fed from one end of a hollow part of the connector or an opening part of a branch pipe of the connector and the clearances between the surface of the connector and circumferential walls of the connecting holes are filled with adhesive agent flowed out of the other end opening at the hollow part of the connector so as to connect both structural memers in rigid form.
Claims20
A connection between structural members comprising a T shaped tubular connector comprising a branch pipe and a transverse tubular member a plurality of solid structural members defining a groove for receiving said branch pipe, and a pair of connecting bore holes at abutting surfaces of said structural members and an adhesive agent dispensed between an outer surface of said connector and the circumferential walls of said connecting bore holes thereby surrounding said tubular member.
A connecting member for joining solid structural members comprising a transverse member having sidewalls and opposite endwalls, said transverse member having a hollow passage and opposite openings at said endwalls, a branch member having a hollow passage, said branch member having an inlet port and an exit port, said hollow branch member intersecting said transverse member at a medial location and said hollow passages communicating with each other, said branch member and said traverse members comprising means to allow a viscous liquid adhesive to flow into said inlet port through said branch member, out said exit port, into said transverse member and then simultaneously flowing in opposite directions through said traverse member towards said opposite openings.
A method for connecting structural members comprising the steps of boring into opposite faces of said structural members a pair of opposing connecting holes for embedding a connector in said structural members, forming a groove on the surface of said opposite faces to receive a branch pipe, said groove radially extending from one of said connecting holes to the edge of one of said faces, mounting said connector in said one of said holes with a branch pipe positioned in said groove, bringing the structural member in which is mounted the connector into contact with the other one of said connecting holes, introducing an adhesive into the branch pipe of said connector until the adhesive flows back towards said groove which receives said branch pipe.
