A stable indelible colored ink composition for invalidating bank notes or similar valuables by staining them permanently, comprises at least one of di- or tri-phenylguanidine.

A colored ink formulation comprising, 2-20% by weight of at least one phenyl-substituted guanidine selected from the group consisting of di- and triphenylguanidine.
