Abstract
Fungicidal compounds of the formula (I): ##STR1## and stereoisomers thereof, wherein R.sup.1 is optionally substituted aryl or optionally substituted heteroaryl; Y is oxygen, sulphur or NR.sup.4 ; R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4, which may be the same or different, are hydrogen, C.sub.1-4 alkyl or C.sub.2-4 alkenyl; X is halogen, C.sub.1-4 alkyl, C.sub.2-4 alkenyl, C.sub.1-4 alkoxy, nitro or cyano; and n is 0 or an integer of 1 to 4; provided that when Y is oxygen, n is 0 and R.sup.1 is unsubstituted phenyl at least one of R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 is other than hydrogen or methyl.

A compound of the formula (I):
- ##STR54## or a stereoisomer thereof, wherein R.sup.1 is phenyl or naphthyl each of which is optionally substituted by one, two or three of:
- halogen, hydroxy, mercapto, C.sub.1-4 alkyl, C.sub.2-4 alkenyl, C.sub.2-4 alkynyl, C.sub.1-4 alkoxy, C.sub.2-4 alkenyloxy, C.sub.2-4 alkynyloxy, halo(C.sub.1-4)alkyl, halo(C.sub.1-4)alkoxy, C.sub.1-4 alkylthio, hydroxy(C.sub.1-4)alkyl, (C.sub.1-4)alkoxy(C.sub.1-4)alkyl, C.sub.3-6 cycloalkyl, C.sub.3-6 cycloalkyl(C.sub.1-4)alkyl, phenyl, heteroaryl, phenoxy, heteroaryloxy, phenyl(C.sub.1-4)alkyl in which the alkyl moiety is optionally substituted with hydroxy, heteroaryl(C.sub.1-4)alkyl, phenyl(C.sub.2-4)alkenyl, heteroaryl(C.sub.2-4)alkenyl, phenyl(C.sub.1-4)alkoxy, heteroaryl(C.sub.1-4)alkoxy, phenoxy(C.sub.1-4)alkyl, heteroaryloxy(C.sub.1-4)alkyl, acyloxy, cyano, thiocyanato, nitro, --CH.sub.2 NHR, --NR'R", --NHCOR', --NHCONR'R", --CONR'R", --COOR', --OSO.sub.2 R', --SO.sub.2 R', --COR', --CR'.dbd.NR" or --N.dbd.CR'R" in which R is hydrogen, C.sub.1-4 alkyl or phenyl and R' and R" are independently hydrogen, C.sub.1-4 alkyl, C.sub.1-4 alkoxy, C.sub.1-4 alkylthio, C.sub.3-6 cycloalkyl, C.sub.3-6 cycloalkyl(C.sub.1-4)alkyl, phenyl or phenyl(C.sub.1-4)alkyl, the phenyl and heteroaryl moieties of any of the foregoing substituents being optionally substituted in the same way as the phenyl or naphthyl value of R.sup.1, provided that R.sup.1 includes at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of:
- hydroxy, mercapto, C.sub.2-4 alkenyl, C.sub.2-4 alkynyl, C.sub.2-4 alkenyloxy, C.sub.2-4 alkynyloxy, hydroxy(C.sub.1-4)alkyl, C.sub.3-6 cycloalkyl(C.sub.1-4)alkyl, heteroaryl, heteroaryloxy, phenyl(C.sub.1-4)alkyl in which the alkyl moiety is substituted with hydroxy, heteroaryl(C.sub.1-4)alkyl, phenyl(C.sub.2-4)alkenyl, heteroaryl(C.sub.2-4)alkenyl, Phenyl(C.sub.1-4)alkoxy, heteroaryl(C.sub.1-4)alkoxy, phenoxy(C.sub.1-4)alkyl, heteroaryloxy(C.sub.1-4)alkyl, acyloxy, --CH.sub.2 NHR, --CR'.dbd.NR" or --N.dbd.CR'R";
- Y is oxygen or sulphur;
- R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are both hydrogen;
- X is halogen, C.sub.1-4 alkyl, C.sub.1-4 alkoxy, nitro or cyano;
- and n is 0 or an integer of 1 to 3, the heteroaryl moieties in all instances being either pyridinyl or pyrimidinyl.
