The present invention relates to agents for protecting crop plants from the phytotoxic side effects of herbicides, which agents contain a compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein Y denotes C--H or N, the symbols R.sub.1 independently of one another denote alkyl, halo-alkyl, alkoxy, haloalkoxy or halogen, R.sub.2 denotes alkyl or cycloalkyl, X denotes COOR.sub.3, CON(R.sub.4).sub.2, COSR.sub.3, CN or ##STR2## R.sub.3 denotes an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, or phenylalkyl, it being possible for phenyl to be substituted by halogen, or trisalkylsilylalkyl or alkoxyalkyl, the symbols R.sub.4 independently of one another denote H, alkyl or cycloalkyl, which can be substituted, or radicals R.sub.4 together with the N atom linking them form a 4- to 7-membered heterocyclic ring and n denotes 1 to 3, in combination with a herbicide.
An agent for protecting crop plants from the phytotoxic side effects of the herbicide ethyl 2-(4-(6-chlorobenzoxazol-2-yloxy)-phenoxy)-propionate, which agent comprises an amount effective for protecting crop plants from phytotoxic side effects of the herbicide, of the safener compound ethyl 1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-5-isopropyl-pyrazole-3-carboxylate in combination with the herbicide, in a weight ratio of safener to herbicide ethyl 2-(4-6-chlorobenzoxazol-2-yloxy)-phenoxy)-propionate of 1:1 to 1:10.
An agent for protecting crop plants from the phytotoxic side effects of the herbicide ethyl 2-(4-(6-chlorobenzoxazol-2-yloxy)-phenoxy)-propionate, which agent comprises an amount effective for protecting crop plants from phytotoxic side effects of the herbicide, of the safener compound 1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-5-isopropyl-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid in combination with the herbicide, in a weight ratio of safener to herbicide ethyl 2-(4-6-chlorobenzoxazol-2-yloxy)-phenoxy)-propionate of 1:1 to 1:10.
A method for protecting crop plants from phytotoxic side effects of the herbicide ethyl 2-(4-(6-chlorobenzoxazol-2-yloxy)-phenoxy)-propionate, which comprises treating the plants, seeds of the plants or their cultivation areas with an effective amount of the safener compound ethyl 1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-5-isopropyl-pyrazole-3-carboxylate before, after, or at the same time, as treating with the herbicide, in a weight ratio of safener to herbicide ethyl 2-(4-6-chlorobenzoxazol-2-yloxy)-phenoxy)-propionate of 1:1 to 1:10.
A method for protecting crop plants from phytotoxic side effects of the herbicide ethyl 2-(4-(6-chlorobenzoxazol-2-yloxy)-phenoxy)-propionate, which comprises treating the plants, seeds of the plants or their cultivation areas with an effective amount of the safener compound 1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-5-isopropyl-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid before, after, or at the same time, as treating with the herbicide, in a weight ratio of safener to herbicide ethyl 2-(4-6-chlorobenzoxazol-2-yloxy)-phenoxy)-propionate of 1:1 to 1:10.
