Abstract
A sliding member comprising a fluorine resin and carbon fibers treated with a fluorine-containing silane modifying agent represented by the formula R.sup.1 -SiX.sub.3 wherein R.sup.1 represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, a part or the whole of the hydrogen atoms of which are replaced with fluorine atoms and X represents a hydrolyzable group or a chlorine atom.
Claims9
A sliding member comprising a mixture of fluorine resin and carbon fibers treated with a fluorine-containing silane modifying agent represented by the formula R.sup.1 -SiX.sub.3 wherein R.sup.1 represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, a part or the whole of the hydrogen atoms of which are replaced with fluorine atoms and X represents a hydrolyzable group or a chlorine atom, wherein the carbon fibers have a diameter of from 1 to 20 .mu.m and an aspect ratio of from 1:1 to 50:1, and wherein the amount of the carbon fibers is from 1 to 30 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the fluorine resin.
A composition for producing a sliding member, said composition comprising a fluorine resin and carbon fibers treated with a fluorine-containing silane modifying agent represented by the formula R.sup.1 -SiX.sub.3 wherein R.sup.1 represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, a part or the whole of the hydrogen atoms of which are replaced with fluorine atoms and X represents a hydrolyzable group or a chlorine atom, wherein the carbon fibers have a diameter of from 1 to 20 .mu.m and an aspect ratio of from 1:1 to 50:1, and wherein the amount of the carbon fibers is from 1 to 30 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the fluorine resin.
