Abstract
Microcapsules containing a shell wall and a liquid fill are produced by an interfacial polymerization reaction between a polyfunctional aziridine and at least one other polyfunctional organic coreactant selected from the group of polyacid halides, polycarboxylic acids, polyamines, polyhydroxyl-containing compounds, polythiol-containing compounds, polyisocyanates, polyisothiocyanates, and mixtures thereof.
Claims5
In an interfacial polymerization reaction for the production of microcapsule compositions having a shell wall and a liquid fill and wherein during said interfacial polymerization reaction said liquid fill and a shell wall precursor are present in a first reaction phase and another shell wall precursor is present in a second reaction phase, the improvement which comprises employing as one of said shell wall precursors a polyfunctional aziridine and as the other shell wall precursor at least one polyfunctional organic compound selected from the group consisting of polyacid halides, polycarboxylic acids, polyamines, polyhydroxyl-containing compounds, polythiol containing compounds, polyisocyanates, polyisothiocyanates, and mixtures thereof, wherein the ratio of polyfunctional aziridine to the other polyfunctional organic coreactants is in the range of 0.5-20:1.
