Abstract
Novel polytetrafluoroethylene structures are described, which were prepared by polymerizing liquid tetrafluoroethylene in aqueous dispersion. The novel structures include continuous three-dimensional networks of fibrils and bundles of fibrils.
Claims6
A polytetrafluoroethylene material characterized in that it is a spongy mass comprised visually of layers of sheet-like configuration and has a microstructure of a three-dimensional continuous network of convoluted randomly disposed submicron diameter fibrils and bundles of submicron diameter fibrils.
A polytetrafluoroethylene material characterized in that it is a spongy mass comprised of a microstructure of predominantly randomly disposed platelets interconnecting or interpenetrating one another and also being randomly connected by randomly disposed submicron fibrils to form a three-dimensional continuous network.
