Abstract
Complex compounds of general Formula I ##STR1## wherein X is a hydrogen atom and/or a metal ion equivalent of at least one element of atomic numbers 21-29, 42, 44 or 58-70, with at least two of the substituents X representing a metal ion equivalent, and R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, Y and n are defined herein, as well as their salts with organic and/or inorganic bases, are valuable compounds for organ-specific NMR diagnostics.
Claims27
In a method of NMR imaging, the improvement comprising imaging the renal system, gastrointestinal tract, liver, gall bladder or bile ducts of a subject and administering to the subject to be imaged, a diagnostically effective amount of a contrast agent wherein said agent comprises a compound of the formula ##STR7## wherein n is 1;
- R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each H;
- R.sup.3 is a saturated or unsaturated, straight-chain, branched-chain or cyclic hydrocarbon residue of up to 16 carbon atoms and at least one R.sup.3 is a cycloalkyl group, or an aryl or aralkyl group optionally substituted by one or several di-C.sub.1-6 -alkylamino groups or by one or several C.sub.1-6 -alkoxy groups,
- R.sup.4 is a hydrogen atom;
- X is in each case H or a metal ion equivalent of at
- least one element of atomic numbers 21-29, 42, 44 or 58-70, with the proviso that at least two of the X groups represent a metal ion equivalent;
- and
- Y is a COOX-- or ##STR8## or physiologically acceptable salt thereof with an organic and/or inorganic base.
In a method of NMR imaging, the improvement comprises administering to a patient with renal insufficiency a diagnostically effective amount of a contrast agent wherein said agent comprises a physiologically compatible complex compound of the formula ##STR11## wherein n is 1;
- R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each H;
- R.sup.3 is a saturated or unsaturated, straight-chain, branched-chain or cyclic hydrocarbon residue of up to 16 carbon atoms and at least one R.sup.3 is a cycloalkyl group, or an aryl or aralkyl group optionally substituted by one or several di-C.sub.1-6 -alkylamino groups or by one or several C.sub.1-6 -alkoxy groups,
- R.sup.4 is a hydrogen atom;
- X is in each case H or a metal ion equivalent of at least one element of atomic numbers 21-29, 42, 44 or 58-70, with the proviso that at least two of the X groups represent a metal ion equivalent;
- or
- Y is a COOX-- or ##STR12## or physiologically acceptable salt thereof with an organic and/or inorganic base.
In a method of NMR imaging, the improvement comprises administering to a patient with a gastrointestinal disorder a diagnostically effective amount of a contrast agent wherein said agent comprises a physiologically compatible complex compound of the formula ##STR13## wherein n is 1;
- R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each H;
- R.sup.3 is a saturated or unsaturated, straight-chain, branched-chain or cyclic hydrocarbon residue of up to 16 carbon atoms and at least one R.sup.3 is a cycloalkyl group, or an aryl or aralkyl group optionally substituted by one or several di-C.sub.1-6 -alkylamino groups or by one or several C.sub.1-6 -alkoxy groups,
- R.sup.4 is a hydrogen atom;
