Abstract
A fishing lure including an elongate body which has a minnow head simulating portion and an enclosed weight receiving cavity and weight therein, a spoon portion having a downward directed convex surface and an upward directed concave surface nested therein, and a conical transition surface connecting the upward directed side of the head to the concave surface of the spoon portion, along with a fish hook adjacent the spoon portion of the body. The hook may be rigid and have a weedless feature, or be a treble hook on a split ring. The lure has a rolling osscilation when pulled through the water and orients itself head down and hook upward when allowed to drop through the water.
Claims12
A fishing lure comprising:
- an elongate body including:
- a minnow head simulating portion, the head portion having a right side, a left side, a dorsal portion and a ventral portion, and an enclosed weight receiving cavity therein,
- a spoon portion having a left directed convex surface and an right directed concave surface nested therein, and
- a conical transition surface connecting the right side of the head to the concave surface of the spoon portion;
- a weight enclosed within the minnow head portion of the elongate body so as to cause the lure to descend through water with the dorsal and ventral portions generally horizontal and the head portion below the sppon portion;
- line connecting means adjacent the minnow head portion of the elongate body and
- fish hooking means adjacent the spoon portion of the body.
A fishing lure comprising:
- an elongate body including:
- a minnow head simulating portion, the head portion having a right side, a left side, a dorsal portion and a ventral portion, and an enclosed weight receiving cavity therein,
- a spoon portion having a left directed convex surface and an right directed concave surface nested therein, and
- a conical transition surface connecting the right side of the head to the concave surface of the spoon portion;
- a weight enclosed within the minnow head portion of the elongate body;
- line connecting means adjacent the minnow head portion of the elongate body and
- fish hooking means adjacent the spoon portion of the body
- and wherein the weight includes means for anchoring the line connecting means.
A fishing lure comprising:
- an elongate body including:
- a minnow head simulating portion, the head portion having a right side, a left side, a dorsal portion and a ventral portion, and an enclosed weight receiving cavity therein,
- a spoon portion having a left directed convex surface and an right directed concave surface nested therein, and
- a conical transition surface connecting the right side of the head to the concave surface of the spoon portion;
- a weight enclosed within the minnow head portion of the elongate body so as to cause the lure to descend through water with the dorsal and ventral portions generally horizontal and the head portion below the spoon portion;
- line connecting means adjacent the minnow head portion of the elongate body and
- fish hooking means adjacent the spoon portion of the body
- and wherein the weight includes means for anchoring the fish hooking means.
A fishing lure comprising:
- an elongate body including:
- a minnow head simulating portion, the head portion having a right side, a left side, a dorsal portion and a ventral portion, and an enclosed weight receiving cavity therein,
- a spoon portion having a left directed convex surface and an right directed concave surface nested therein, and
- a conical transition surface connecting the right side of the head to the concave surface of the spoon portion;
- a weight enclosed within the minnow head portion of the elongate body;
- line connecting means adjacent the minnow head portion of the elongate body and
- fish hooking means adjacent the spoon portion of the body
- and wherein the lure further includes a weed guard and the weight includes means for anchoring the weed guard.
A fishing lure comprising:
- an elongate body including:
- a proximally positioned minnow head simulating portion, the head portion having a right side, a left side, a dorsal portion, and a ventral portion,
- means for generating an oscillatory rolling motion of from about 90 to about 180 degrees rotation about a long itudinal axis of the lure in response to proximally directed motion of the elongate body through water;
- line connecting means, provided adjacent the minnow head portion of the elongate body;
- and
- fish hooking means, provided distally on the elongate body
- and wherein the means for generating a rolling oscillatory motion include a spoon portion having a concave surface and a convex surface, the concave surface being shallower than the convex surface.
