Abstract
Cosmetic compositions, especially color cosmetics such as facial foundations, are described that include C.sub.2 -C.sub.28 .alpha.-hydroxy carboxylic acid, rosmarrinic acid as well as salts of the foregoing in pharmaceutically acceptable carriers. These compositions are effective against the signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles while being non-irritating to the skin.
Claims8
A cosmetic facial foundation composition comprising:
- (i) from about 0.01 to about 10% by weight of a C.sub.2 -C.sub.28 .alpha.-hydroxy carboxylate compound selected from the group consisting of glycolic acid, lactic acid and their salts and combinations thereof;
- (ii) from about 0.05 to about 5% by weight of rosmarrinic acid or salt thereof;
- and
- (iii) from about 1 to about 99.9% by weight of a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
