Abstract
Fruit, especially tomatoes, having lowered expression of fruit-softening enzymes caused by antisense gene expression, and seeds therefrom.
Claims4
A tomato fruit having a reduced level of expression of polygalacturonase, resulting from the presence in the plant genome of DNA capable of generating antisense RNA complementary to polygalacturonase mRNA, where the reduced level of expression of polygalacturonase is less than 1% of that of similar unmodified tomatoes at a corresponding development stage.
