New crystalline organic salts of N,N'-diacetyl cystine with immunomodulating effect, processes for their preparation, pharmaceutical compositions containing them and methods of their pharmacological use.

A salt of an organic base and N,N'-diacetyl cystine having the general formula ##STR2## wherein R.sup.+ and R.sup.2+ are a mono- and diprotonated amino organic base, respectively, and are selected from the group consisting of lysine, ethylenediamine, N,N'-dibenzylethylenediamine, adamantanamine or N-benzyl-2-phenylethylamine.
