Abstract
The invention describes new salts and amides of 4-hydroxybutyric acid with the aim of improving the pharmacological and therapeutic properties of 4-hydroxybutyric acid.
Claims12
Water-soluble salts of 4-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) with the formula I:
- ##STR6## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are --H, --CH.sub.3, --C.sub.2 H.sub.5, --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 OH or --CH.sub.2 --CHOH--CH.sub.2 OH groups,
- R.sub.4 is an alcohol or polyalcohol with 1 to 5 carbon atoms and 1 to 5 oxygen atoms having a linear or branched structure, and
- R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are each independently --H or --CH.sub.2 OH.
