Abstract
There are disclosed a modified oriented polyacetal product, the surface of said product being coated partly or entirely with a phenolic compound-polyacetal composite layer, the application thereof and a process for preparing the same.

An oriented polyacetal product having a tensile elastic moduli of at least 4 GPa and tensile strength of at least 0.6 GPa, the surface of said product being coated partly or entirely with a phenolic compound composite layer comprising polyacetal and a reaction product of said polyacetal and a phenolic compound.
A surface-modified oriented polyacetal product, having a tensile elastic moduli of at least 4 GPa and a tensile strength of at least 0.6 GPa, being produced by a process comprising the step of applying a phenolic compound to part or all of the surface of said oriented polyacetal product, to thereby phenolate said oriented polyacetal product and to form a composite layer having a phenolic gradient that is richer nearer to the surface of said oriented polyacetal product.
