Abstract
A pressure-sensitive adhesive having improved shear strength obtained by virtue of the formation of the enamine of a pendent acetoacetate is described. These materials contain acetoacetate functional monomer in a low Tg emulsion polymer. Shear strength is improved without compromise of either peel strength or tack.
Claims4
A pressure-sensitive adhesive comprising a polymer prepared by free radical emulsion polymerization having a Tg below about 0.degree. C. and having pendent acetoacetate functional groups wherein the pendent acetoacetate groups have been reacted with ammonia or a primary amine to form an enamine-containing composition at a pH greater than 9.
