## Abstract

A composition for improving the wet strength of cellulosic fibrous webs is comprised of an aminopolyamide-epichlorohydrin acid salt resin having an E/N ratio of from about 0.6 to about 2.0 and from about 1% to about 35% of a water soluble cationic polymer based on the weight of the resin. The composition has a total organic chlorine content of from about 0.5% to 1.0% by weight based on the weight of the aminopolyamide-epichlorohydrin acid salt resin.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A composition consisting essentially of an aminopolyamide-epichlorohydrin acid salt resin having an E/N ratio of from about 0.6 to about 2.0 and from about 1% to about 35% by weight based on the weight of said resin of polydimethyldiallylammonium chloride.

### Claim 2

A composition consisting essentially of water and from about 1% to about 60% by weight of an aminopolyamide-epichlorohydrin acid salt resin having an E/N ratio of from about 0.6 to about 2.0; and from about 1% to about 35% by weight based on the weight of polydimethyldiallylammonium chloride.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The composition of claim 1 wherein said E/N ratio is from about 0.6 to about 1.0.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The composition of claim 1 wherein said E/N ratio is about 1.0.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The composition of claim 1 wherein the amount of said polydimethyldiallylammonium chloride is from 5% to about 15% by weight based on the weight of said resin.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The composition of claim 1 wherein the amount of said polydimethyldiallylammonium chloride is about 10% by weight based on the weight of said resin.

### Claim 7 (depends on 2)

The composition of claim 2 wherein said E/N ratio is from about 0.6 to about 1.0.

### Claim 8 (depends on 2)

The composition of claim 2 wherein said E/N ratio is about 1.0.
