## Abstract

A benzopyran derivative represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.0 represents an alkyl or alkenyl group having 10 to 20 carbon atoms, R.sub.1 to R.sub.3 each represent a methyl group or a hydrogen atom, and G represents a --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 OH or --CH(CH.sub.2 OH).sub.2 group; or a salt thereof, which has a high water-solubility and thus is usable in cosmetics.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A benzopyran derivative represented by formula (I): ##STR8## wherein R.sub.0 represents an alkyl or alkenyl group having 10 to 20 carbon atoms; R.sub.1 to R.sub.3 each represent a methyl group or a hydrogen atom; and G represents a --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 OH or --CH(CH.sub.2 OH).sub.2 group; or a salt thereof.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The benzopyran derivative or a salt thereof as in claim 1, wherein R.sub.0 is --C.sub.16 H.sub.33.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The benzopyran derivative or a salt thereof as in claim 1, wherein G represents a --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 OH group.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The benzopyran derivative or a salt thereof as in claim 1, which is a pharmacologically acceptable salt.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The benzopyran derivative or a salt thereof as in claim 4, which is an alkali metal salt.

### Claim 6

A cosmetic containing a benzopyran derivative represented by formula (I): ##STR9## wherein R.sub.0 represents an alkyl or alkenyl group having 10 to 20 carbon atoms; R.sub.l to R.sub.3 each represent a methyl group or a hydrogen atom; and G represents a --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 OH or --CH(CH.sub.2 OH).sub.2 group; or a salt thereof.

The cosmetic as in claim 6, wherein R.sub.0 in formula (I ) is --C.sub.16 H.sub.33.
