## Abstract

Type II IL-1 receptor (type II IL-1R) proteins, DNAs and expression vectors encoding type II IL-1R, and processes for producing type II IL-1R as products of recombinant cell culture, are disclosed.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An isolated DNA selected from the group consisting of:
(a) a cDNA clone having a nucleotide sequence encoding an amino acid sequence of amino acids 1 through 385 of SEQ ID NO.:2;
(b) a DNA capable of hybridization to a clone of (a) under moderately stringent conditions and which encodes a biologically active type II IL-1R molecule; and
(c) a DNA having a sequence which is degenerate as a result of the genetic code to a DNA as defined in (a) or (b) above and which encodes biologically active type II IL-1R molecules.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

An isolated DNA according to claim 1 which encodes a soluble human type II IL-1R.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

An isolated DNA according to claim 1 encoding the type II IL-1R polypeptide expressed by pHuIL-1R-II 75 (ATCC 68337).

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

A recombinant expression vector comprising a DNA according to claim 1.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

A recombinant expression vector comprising a DNA according to claim 2.

### Claim 6 (depends on 3)

A recombinant expression vector comprising a DNA according to claim 3.

### Claim 7 (depends on 4)

A process for preparing a type II IL-1R, comprising culturing a suitable host cell comprising a vector according to claim 4 under conditions promoting expression.

### Claim 8 (depends on 5)

A process for preparing a type II IL-1R, comprising culturing a suitable host cell comprising a vector according to claim 5 under conditions promoting expression.

### Claim 9 (depends on 6)

A process for preparing a type II IL-1R, comprising culturing a suitable host cell comprising a vector according to claim 6 under conditions promoting expression.
