## Abstract

Herbicidal 1-(3-halo-4-trifluoromethylphenyl) tetrazolinones of the formula ##STR1## wherein X represents halogen, R.sup.1 represents C.sub.1-3 alkyl, and R.sup.2 represents C.sub.1-3 alkyl.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A 1- ( 3 -halo-4-trifluoromethylphenyl) tetrazolinone of the formula ##STR9## wherein X represents halogen,
R.sup.l represents C.sub.1-3 alkyl, and
R.sup.2 represents C.sub.1-3 alkyl.

A compound according to claim 1 wherein
X represents fluorine or chlorine.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

A compound according to claim 1 wherein
X represents chlorine.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

A compound according to claim 1, wherein such compound is 1-(3-chloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-(N,N-dimethylcarbamoyl)-5(4H)-tetra zolinone of the formula ##STR10##

A compound according to claim 1, wherein such compound is 1-(3-chloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-(N,N-diethylcarbamoyl)-5(4H)-tetraz olinone of the formula ##STR11##

A compound according to claim 1, wherein such compound is 1-(3-chloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-(N,N-dipropylcarbamoyl)-5(4H)-tetra zolinone of the formula ##STR12##

A herbicidal composition comprising a herbicidally effective amount of a compound according to claim 1 and a diluent.

A method of combatting unwanted vegetation which comprises applying thereto or to a locus from which it is desired to exclude such vegetation a herbicidally effective amount of a compound according to claim 1.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The method according to claim 8, wherein such compound is
1-(3-chloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-(N,N-dimethylcarbamoyl)-5(4H)-tetraz olinone,
1-(3-chloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-(N,N-diethylcarbamoyl)-5(4H)-tetrazo linone or
1-(3-chloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-(N,N-dipropylcarbamoyl)-5(4H)-tetraz olinone.
