Fused benzeneoxyacetic acid derivatives

A fused benzeneoxyacetic acid derivative of the formula (1):

• ##STR131## A is --COW;
• W is
• (i) --NR.sup.2 R.sup.3,
• (ii) --NR.sup.4 --OR.sup.5,
• (iii) --NR.sup.4 --NR.sup.2 R.sup.3 or
• (iv) --NR.sup.4 --N.dbd.Cr.sup.2 R.sup.3 ;
• R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom or C.sub.1-4 alkyl;
• R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 each, independently, is
• (i) a hydrogen atom
• (ii) phenyl,
• (iii) benzoylphenyl,
• (iv) a 4-7 membered, unsaturated monocyclic hetero ring containing one nitrogen atom as a hetero atom or
• (v) C.sub.1-4 alkyl substituted by (1) 1 to 3 of phenyl or (2) one phenyl and one 4-7 membered, unsaturated monocyclic hetero ring containing one nitrogen atom as a hetero atom;
• R.sup.4 is a hydrogen atom, C.sub.1-6 alkyl or phenyl;
• R.sup.5 is
• (i) phenyl,
• (ii) a 4-7 membered, unsaturated monocyclic hetero ring containing one nitrogen atom as hetero atom or
• (iii) C.sub.1-4 alkyl substituted by (1) 1 to 3 of phenyl or (2) one phenyl and one 4-7 membered, unsaturated monocyclic hetero ring containing one nitrogen atom as a hetero atom;
• the said phenyl and hetero rings may be also substituted by C.sub.1-4 alkyl, C.sub.1-4 alkoxy, a halogen atom, nitro or trihalomethyl, when R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 or R.sup.5 is phenyl or the group containing phenyl, or when R.sup.2, R.sup.3 or R.sup.5 is said hetero ring or the group containing the hetero ring;
• e is 3-5;
• f is 1-3;
• p is 0-4;
• q is 0-2;
• r is 0-4;
• s is 0-3;
• with the proviso that, when ##STR132## is the formula (iii) or (iv), --(CH.sub.2).sub.r or .dbd.CH--(CH.sub.2).sub.s in the side chain is bonded to the carbon atom at the position a or b in the ring;
• or non-toxic salts thereof or non-toxic acid addition salts thereof.
