Abstract
A spot welding electrode is made of a copper base material such as copper, copper alloy, or alumina dispersion strengthened copper, and has a Sn coating layer formed at the part making contact with the material being welded. The formed Sn coating layer reduces electrode wear and prolongs electrode life.
Claims8
An electrode for spot welding of aluminum or aluminum alloys, said electrode consisting of a copper base material having a Sn layer of from 0.03 to 400 .mu.m coated only on a tip end thereof.
An electrode for spot welding of aluminum or aluminum alloys, said electrode consisting of a copper base material having a Sn layer of from 0.03 to 400 .mu.m coated thereon and an .epsilon. phase of an intermetallic compound of a Cu--Sn alloy formed at the interface of the copper base material and the Sn layer.
