Abstract
The invention concerns a process for the preparation of nitrobenzene from benzene and nitric acid, wherein catalysts are applied based on the zeolite clinoptilolite.

A process for the preparation of nitrobenzene, characterized by the catalytic nitration of benzene at a temperature between 300 and 523 K., using aqueous nitric acid as nitrating agent and a catalyst based on H-clinoptilolite.
