Abstract
The present invention provides a novel process for preparing a 2-(aminomethyl)-4-thiazolemethanol. The compounds produced by the process of the present invention are useful for synthesizing anti-ulcer compounds such as Nizatidine.
Claims2
A compound of the formula ##STR9## wherein R.sup.1 represents hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, benzyl or benzoyl;
- R.sup.2 represents methyl or ethyl;
- or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, taken together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, form a pyrrolidine, piperidine or morpholine ring;
- and
- R.sup.3 represents hydrogen or methyl.
