Abstract
Disclosed is an information recording medium having a recording layer which contains a benzotriazole type compound. This information recording medium therefore exhibits very excellent effects in light resistance and is safe to use.

An information recording medium having a recording layer formed on a substrate and a reflective layer formed on said recording layer, said recording layer containing at least one cyanine dye selected from those represented by the following general formulae [I] and [II] given below, and a benzotriazole type compound represented by the following general formula [III]:
- ##STR14## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently represent an alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and X.sup.- represents a counter ion;
- ##STR15## wherein R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 independently represent an alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and X.sup.- represents a counter ion;
- and ##STR16## wherein R.sub.5 represents a hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, and R.sub.6 represents a halogen or an alkyl group, m and n independently represent integers 0 to 4, when each of m and n is 2 or more the substituents for R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 may be the same or different from each other.
