A method of preventing or alleviating renal disorders by administering to a human or an animal in need thereof a pharmaceutical composition comprising an effective amount amount of at least one specific isomer of inositol trisphosphate sufficient to obtain said prevention or alleviation.

A method of treating abnormal renal function caused by abnormal levels of neuropeptide Y (NPY) comprising administering to a human or an animal in need thereof an effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising at least one specific isomer of inositol triphosphate sufficient to treat abnormal renal function caused by abnormal levels of neuropeptide Y.
