Abstract
A method of preparing a film includes the steps of mixing a thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer with a host polymer to provide a first material, coextruding the first material with a second material so as to form a film comprising the first and second materials, quenching the film, and orienting the quenched film in at least one direction. The oriented film has an exposed first major surface that includes protrusions resulting from regions of the liquid crystalline polymer in the host polymer.
Claims17
A method of preparing a film, the method comprising the steps of:
- (a) mixing a thermotropic liquid cyrstalline polymer with a host polymer to provide a first material;
- (b) coextruding the first material with a second material so as to form a film having at least two layers wherein the first material forms a first layer and the second material forms a second layer;
- (c) quenching the film;
- and
- (d) orienting the quenched film in at least one direction;
- wherein the oriented film has an exposed first major surface comprising protrusions resulting from regions of the liquid cyrstalline polymer in the host polymer.
