Abstract
The invention relates to a process for increasing the dyeability of textile fibers and fabrics without the need to use a salt in the dyebath. The dyeing is performed on fibers or fabrics which have been treated with potassium hydroxide and an epoxy ammonium salt of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R, R', R", and R'" are alkyl radicals having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and X.sup.- is an anionic group selected from the group consisting of sulfate, sulfonate and halide.
Claims9
In a process for dyeing textile fibers or fabrics with a dye normally requiring an exhaust salt which includes the steps of washing and rinsing, the improvement which comprises the steps of a) treating the fibers or fabrics with a dilute solution of potassium hydroxide, b) treating the fibers or fabrics with a dilute solution of an epoxy ammonium compound of the formula:
- ##STR5## wherein R, R' and R" are alkyl radicals having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, R'" is an alkylene radical having 1 to 8 carbon atoms and X.sup.- is an anionic group selected from the group consisting of sulfate, sulfonate and halide, and c) dyeing the fibers or fabrics in a dyebath without a salt for exhausting the dye in the dyebath and at a temperature below 200.degree.
