Abstract
The present invention provides a method for reducing fruit softening and cell wall polysaccharide degradation by inhibiting endo-1,4-.beta.-glucanase activity using antisense DNA constructions.
Claims7
An expression cassette comprising a plant promoter sequence operably linked to a DNA subsequence of at least 20 base pairs derived from a DNA sequence encoding tomato a endo-1,4-.beta.-glucanase, the DNA subsequence being linked to the promoter sequence in the opposite orientation for expression.
