Abstract
A platinum catalyst which is prepared by reacting a platinum halide with an organic compound having at least one --C.tbd.C-- group in the presence or absence of a base to form a complex which promotes the addition of silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms to silicon-bonded aliphatic unsaturated hydrocarbon groups in the presence of no-clean flux.

A composition which is curable at an elevated temperature which comprises (a) an organopolysiloxane having an average of at least two silicon-bonded aliphatically unsaturated monovalent hydrocarbon radicals per molecule, (b) an orgnohydrogenpolysiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule, (c) a platinum catalyst, which is obtained by reacting a platinum halide with an organic compound having at least one --C.tbd.C--group per molecule and (d) optionally, a filler.
An elastomer which is obtained by heating a composition containing (a) an organopolysiloxane having an average of at least two aliphatically unsaturated monovalent hydrocarbon radicals per molecule, (b) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule, (c) a platinum catalyst, which is obtained from the reaction of a platinum halide and an organic compound having at least one --C.tbd.C--group per molecule and (d) optionally, a filler to a temperature of from 50.degree. to 300.degree. C.
A process for preparing a curable composition which comprises mixing (a) an organopolysiloxane having an average of at least two aliphatically unsaturated monovalent hydrocarbon radicals per molecule with (c) a platinum catalyst, which is obtained by reacting a platinum halide with an organic compound having at least one --C.tbd.C--group per molecule to form a mixture and thereafter adding (b) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane having an average of at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule to the resultant mixture.
