Abstract
A novel macrophage activating factor is prepared in vitro by treating glycosated vitamin D-binding protein with glycosidases. Vitamin D-binding protein, which is isolated from blood or plasma of mammals by known procedures, is thus readily converted to a highly potent macrophage activating factor.
Claims4
A macrophage activating factor comprising an isolated and purified polypeptide having the amino acid sequence of vitamin D-binding protein, and a terminal N-acetylgalactosamine group linked to a threonine or serine residue of said polypeptide at amino acid position 418.
A macrophage activating factor comprising an isolated and purified polypeptide having the amino acid sequence of vitamin D-binding protein, and a terminal N-actylgalactosamine group linked to a threonine residue of said polypeptide at amino acid position 420.
