Abstract
Addition of a polyhydric alcohol to creping adhesive formulation comprising a water soluble binder increases operational efficiency.

In a process of treating a paper web by applying an adhesive formulation to a creping surface and creping the web from said surface, the improvement which consists of employing an adhesive formulation comprising polyvinyl alcohol in an amount of at least about 60 % and a polyhydric alcohol taken from the group consisting of pentaerythritol, di-pentaerythritol, trimethylolpropane and di-trimethylolpropane said polyhydric alcohol being present in an amount from about 5% to about 30% by weight of the solids content of the adhesive.
