Abstract
A connector assembly includes a first and second housing having a normally open switch fixed between them. Means are formed on one of the housing is for maintaining the switch in an open position. In the event of separation of the housings, spring action causes the arms of the switch to engage electrical contacts, closing a circuit and energizing a warning light. The device has applicability in automatic braking systems for automative vehicles.
Claims3
A switch element comprising:
- an electrically conductive, annular body having an outside edge and an inside edge separating first and second surfaces, said body having oppositely disposed, transversely projecting arms each including a reentrant portion located in a first plane remote from said first surface and a terminal portion which ends in a second plane remote from said first plane and on an opposite side of said body from said first plane and extending beyond said second surface, said body further including retention means which extend from said outside edge.
