Abstract
N,N-disubstituted-guanidines, e.g., of the formula ##STR1## wherein R and R' are substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon groups. Methods are provided for the treatment of psychosis and hypertension by administering an effective amount of an N,N'-disubstituted guanidine which, preferably, has a high affinity for the sigma receptor.
Claims36
A method of treating a human being suffering from a psychotic mental illness associated with hallucinations, which comprises administering thereto, in an amount effective to ameliorate the hallucinations, a non-heterocyclic N,N'-disubstituted guanidine which is an antagonist to the sigma receptor binding activity of a hallucinogenic benzomorphan.
A method of treating a human being suffering from a psychotic mental illness associated with hallucinations, which comprises administering thereto, in an amount effective to ameliorate the hallucinations, a non-heterocyclic N,N'-disubstituted guanidine which has high binding affinity to the sigma receptor and which is an antagonist to the sigma receptor binding activity of a hallucinogenic benzomorphan.
A method of treating a human afflicted with a psychotic disease which comprises administering to the human an anti-psychosis effective amount of N-(1-admantyl)-N'-(o-tolyl)guanidine.
A method of treating the human being afflicted with a psychotic disease which comprises administering to the human being an anti-psychosis effective amount of a non-heterocyclic N,N'-disubstituted guanidine.
