Abstract
Process for purifying phthalimido-peroxycaproic acid (PAP) from chlorinated solvents, by dissolving it in a polar and volatile solvent selected from alcohols, ketones and aliphatic esters, and a following crystallization thereof and solvent stripping. Preferred solvents are aliphatic esters, in particular ethyl acetate.
Claims5
A process for purifying phthalimido-peroxycaproic acid (PAP) from chlorinated solvents, said process comprising:
- (a) dissolving said PAP in a non-chlorinated polar and volatile solvent selected from the group consisting of alcohols, ketones and aliphatic esters;
- and
- (b) recovering said PAP by recrystallization from said non-chlorinated polar and volatile solvent or by evaporating said non-chlorinated polar and volatile solvent;
- said process being carried out at a temperature lower than +40.degree. C.
