Abstract
Novel 5-amino-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinolines and related compounds, intermediates and processes for the preparation thereof, and methods for relieving memory dysfunction utilizing compounds or compositions thereof are disclosed.
Claims4
A process for the preparation of a compound of the formula
- wherein R is hydrogen, loweralkyl, loweralkenyl, loweralkynyl, or arylloweralkyl;
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen, loweralkyl, arylloweralkyl, diaryloweralkyl, lowercycloalkenylloweralkyl, loweralkoxy, or arylloweralkoxy;
- R.sup.5 is hydrogen, loweralkyl, or arylloweralkyl;
- m is 0, 1, or 2;
- and n is 1 or 2;
- which comprises (a) contacting a compound of the formula ##STR20## wherein R, R.sup.5, m and n are as above with a compound of the formula
- R.sup.2 NH.sub.2
- wherein R.sup.2 is as above in the presence of titanium tetra-isopropoxide to provide an imine of the formula ##STR21## wherein R, R.sup.2, R.sup.5, and m are as above, and (b) contacting the imine with an alkali metal borohydride.
