Abstract
A partially crosslinked thermoplastic elastomer composition having an excellent heat-bondability is obtained by dynamically heat-treating a peroxide-crosslinking olefin copolymer rubber with an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof in the presence of an organic peroxide.
Claims22
A thermoplastic elastomer composition (B) of a partially cross-linked blend comprising:
- (a) 10 to 95 parts by weight of an ethylene/propylene/non-conjugated diene rubber in which the molar ratio between ethylene units and propylene units is from 50/50 to 90/10;
- (b) 5 to 90 parts by weight of an isotactic or syndiotactic monoolefin homopolymer or copolymer or crystalline polyethylene, the sum of the amounts of the components (a) and (b) being 100 parts by weight, and
- (c) 0.1 to 5 parts by weight of an a,B-unsaturated carboxylic acid or an anhydride thereof or ester thereof,
- said thermoplastic elastomer composition (B) being graft modified and partially cross-linked by dynamically heat-treating said blend in the presence of an organic peroxide which is incorporated in an amount of 0.1 to 1% by weight based on the total amounts of the components (a), (b) and (c).
A thermoplastic elastomer composition as set forth in claim 16 wherein said fibrous filler is selected from the group consisting of milled glass fiber, glass flake, potassium titanate fiber and mixtures thereof.
