Abstract
The hard coating includes mainly (Al,Cr).sub.2 O.sub.3 crystals and a chrome content higher than 5 at % wherein the (Al, Cr).sub.2 O.sub.3 is a single crystal. The coating is deposited at a temperature lower than 90.degree. C., preferably lower than 500.degree. C. The hard coating is deposited by a CVD or PVD process.
Claims8
A hard coating consisting essentially of (Al,Cr).sub.2 O.sub.3 crystals having a share of chrome larger than 5 at %, wherein said (Al,Cr).sub.2 O.sub.3 is a single crystal.
A thermal insulation coating consisting essentially of (Al,Cr).sub.2 O.sub.3 crystals having a chrome content higher than 5 at %.
A hard coating, consisting essentially of (Al,Cr).sub.2 O.sub.3 crystals having a chrome content of from 10 to 50 at % wherein said (Al,Cr).sub.2 O.sub.3 is a single crystal, the hard coating being deposited by maintaining a temperature less than or equal to 500.degree. C.
