Abstract
The present invention relates to a process for preparing 1,3-disilacyclotutanes by pyrolyzing alkoxytrisilaalkaness at a temperature of from 400.degree. C. to 800.degree. C. at the atmospheric pressure or under the vacuum. This is a new synthetic route of 1,3-disilacyclobutanes which employs readily available starting materials without using alkaline metals or magnesium, affords very good yields, produces very clean product mixtures separable by distillation, and tolerates functionality on silicon.
Claims4
A 1,3-disilacyclobutane compound having the formula:
- ##STR12## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are methoxy groups.
A 1,3-disilacyclobutane compound having the formula:
- ##STR13## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.4 are methoxy groups and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are chloro groups.
A 1,3-disilacyclobutane compound having the formula:
- ##STR14## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.4 are ethoxy groups and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are chloro groups.
A process for the preparation of 1,3-disilacyclobutanes as represented by Formula I which comprises pyrolyzing alkoxytrisilaalkane derivatives as represented by Formula II at a temperature from 400.degree. C. to 800.degree. C. at atmospheric pressure or under a vacuum. ##STR15## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are members independently selected from the group consisting of methyl, methoxy, ethoxy and phenyl.
