Abstract
A process for the oxidation of 2-phenoxypropionic acid to 2-(4-hydrophenoxy)propionic acid using microorganisms is described.
Claims5
A process for the preparation of 2-(4-hydroxyphenoxy)propionic acid by fermentation, wherein hydroxylation takes place substantially only in the p-position, which process comprises oxidizing 2-phenoxypropionic acid of salts thereof under aerobic conditions in the presence of a 2-(4-hydroxyphenoxy) propionic acid activity-producing, soil-inhabiting microorganism selected from the group consisting of a Streptomycetes bacteria and a fungus.
