Abstract
An adhesive sheet comprising (1) a backing, and (2) an adhesive layer having at least one topologically microstructured surface comprising a plurality of pegs, optionally containing one or more beads, substantially uniformly distributed and protruding outwardly from the adhesive layer, wherein the pegs have essentially flat tops that comprise less than 25% of the total surface contact area of the adhesive layer, and have a height of at least 15 .mu.m.

An adhesive sheet comprising (1) a backing, and (2) an adhesive layer having at least one topologically microstructured surface comprising a plurality of pegs, substantially uniformly distributed and protruding outwardly from an essentially planar adhesive layer surface to a height in the range of 15 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m, wherein the pegs have essentially flat tops that are adhesive and comprise less than 25% of the total surface area of the adhesive layer and the planar adhesive surface between and around the pegs is greater than 30% of the total surface area of the adhesive layer.
An adhesive sheet comprising (1) a backing, and (2) an adhesive layer having at least one topologically microstructured surface comprising a plurality of composite pegs, substantially uniformly distributed and protruding outwardly from the essentially planar surface of the adhesive layer to a height in the range of 15 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m, wherein the composite pegs have essentially flat tops that are adhesive and comprise one or more beads mixed into the adhesive such that the top of each composite peg is adhesive and, the pegs comprise an adhesive surface area of less than 25% of the total surface area of the adhesive layer.
A double-sided adhesive sheet comprising:
- (1) a first adhesive layer having a nonstructured first surface and a topologically microstructured second surface comprising a plurality of pegs, substantially uniformly distributed and protruding outwardly from the first adhesive layer to a height in the range of 15 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m, wherein the pegs have essentially flat tops that are adhesive and comprises less than 25% of the total surface area of the first adhesive layer, and the adhesive surface between and around the pegs is greater than 30% of the total surface area of the first adhesive layer;
- and
- (2) a second adhesive layer having a nonstructured first surface and a topologically microstructured second surface comprising a plurality of pegs, substantially uniformly distributed and protruding outwardly from the second adhesive layer to a height in the range of 15 .mu.m to m to 200 .mu.m, wherein the pegs have essentially flat tops that are adhesive and comprise less than 25% of the total surface of the second adhesive layer, and the adhesive surface between and around the pegs is greater than 30% of the total surface area of the second adhesive layer, wherein the first surfaces of the first and second adhesive layer are adjacent to each other.
A double-sided adhesive article comprising an adhesive layer having a topologically microstructured surface on both surfaces of the adhesive layer, wherein the microstructured surface comprises a plurality of pegs, substantially uniformly distributed and protruding outwardly from an essentially planar adhesive layer surface to a height in the range of 15 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m, wherein the pegs have essentially flat tops that are adhesive and comprise less than 25% of the total surface area of the adhesive layer, and the planar adhesive surface between and around the pegs is greater than 30% of the total adhesive layer.
A double-sided adhesive article comprising an adhesive layer having a topologically microstructured surface on both surfaces of the adhesive layer, wherein the microstructured surface comprises a plurality of composite pegs, substantially uniformly distributed and protruding outwardly from the essentially planar surface of the adhesive layer to a height in the range of 15 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m, wherein the composite pegs have essentially flat tops that are adhesive and comprises one or more beads mixed into the adhesive such that the top of each composite peg is adhesive and, the pegs comprise an adhesive surface area of less than 25% of the total surface area of the adhesive layer.
A transfer tape comprising at least one topologically microstructured surface comprising a plurality of pegs, substantially uniformly distributed and protruding outwardly from an essentially planar adhesive layer surface to a height in the range of 15 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m, wherein the pegs have essentially flat tops that are adhesive and comprise less than 25% of the total surface area of the adhesive layer, and the planar adhesive surface between and around the pegs is greater than 30% of the total adhesive layer.
A transfer tape comprising at least one topologically microstructured surface comprising a plurality of composite pegs, substantially uniformly distributed and protruding outwardly from the essentially planar surface of the adhesive layer to a height in the range of 15 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m, wherein the pegs have essentially flat tops that are adhesive and comprises one or more beads mixed into the adhesive such that the top of each composite peg is adhesive and the pegs comprise an adhesive surface area of less than 25% of the total area of the adhesive layer.
An adhesive article having at least one topologically microstructured uniformly distributed and protruding outwardly from the essentially planar surface of the adhesive layer to a height in the range of 15 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m, wherein the pegs have essentially flat tops that are adhesive and optionally, comprise one or more beads mixed into the adhesive wherein the top of each composite peg is adhesive, such that the microstructured surface of the adhesive article slides over a substrate and the adhesive article clings to the substrate.
An adhesive article comprising an adhesive layer having a topologically microstructured surface comprising a plurality of adhesive-only and composite pegs, substantially uniformly distributed and protruding outwardly from the essentially planar surface of the adhesive layer to a height in the range of 15 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m, wherein the adhesive-only pegs have essentially flat tops that comprise less than 25% of the total surface contact area of the adhesive layer, and the planar adhesive surface contiguous with the base and between the pegs is greater than 30% of the total adhesive layer, and the composite pegs comprise adhesive and one or more beads, wherein the pegs comprise an adhesive surface area of less than 25% of the total surface area of the adhesive layer.
