Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for isolating and purifying transferrin and lactoferrin receptor proteins from bacterial pathogens by affinity chromatography and to the preparation of vaccine antigens containing the purified receptor proteins.
Claims4
A method for isolating and purifying transferrin receptor protein from bacterial pathogens containing the same comprising isolating a membrane preparation from a bacterial strain expressing transferrin-binding activity binding a biotinylated derivative of transferrin to said membrane preparation, and isolating said transferrin receptor protein by affinity chromatography with a compound selected from the group consisting of immobilized streptavidin and immobilized avidin.
