Abstract

High molecular weight polyamides having benzidine linkages are prepared using certain substituted benzidine monomers.

Dependent claims

A polyamide comprising repeat units of the formula ##STR4## where X is ##STR5## or mixtures thereof with from 2 to 95 mole % of ##STR6## where R is alkyl or aralkyl and R' is methyl or ethyl.
