A pure culture of a Gram-positive bacterial strain designated GIN-1 being a member of the genus Rhodococcus and deposited under No. 40340 at the National Collections of Industrial and Marine Bacteria Ltd. (NCIMB) at Aberdeen, Scotland, said strain having an ability to grow in an aqueous saline solution and to adsorb to metal oxides in an aqueous environment.
