Abstract
Imines of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is alkyl and R.sub.2 is Ketal, alkoxymethyl or arylmethyl and enamides of the formula: ##STR2## wherein R.sub.2 is as defined above and R.sub.3 is oxygen or hydrogen are useful intermediates in a process for preparing swainsonine.
Claims4
An .DELTA..sup.1 -pyrroline having the formula:
- ##STR10## wherein R is alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms;
- each R.sub.2 when taken independently is alkoxymethyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms or arylmethyl;
- and when taken together represent alkylidene of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, bridging the oxygen atoms to which they are bonded.
