Abstract
Hydroxyphenyltriazines of formula I ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkyl substituted by halogen or by C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkoxy, or is benzyl and R' is hydrogen or methyl, are especially suitable as stabilisers for thermoplastic polymers that comprise hetero atoms in the main chain.
Claims11
A polymer composition stabilised against damage by light, oxygen and heat, comprising
- a) a thermoplastic polymer that comprises hetero atoms in the main chain, and
- b) an effective stabilising amount of a hydroxyphenyltriazine compound of formula I ##STR7## wherein R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkyl substituted by halogen or by C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkoxy, or is benzyl and R' is hydrogen or methyl.
A method for stabilising a thermoplastic polymer containing hetero atoms in the main chain against damage by light, oxygen and heat, which comprises adding to said polymer an effective stabilising amount of a compound of formula I ##STR8## wherein R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkyl substituted by halogen or by C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkoxy, or is benzyl and R' is hydrogen or methyl.
